I don't get why everyone else isn't more excited about this? Kaka! has come to Real Madrid and I couldn't be more excited! We not only have Kaka! in our midfield now, but we have Jesus on our side. Kaka! also follows the Real Madrid tradition of being really good looking. Kaka! has the skillz and the looks and will fit right in. This really is too perfect. Anyways, Ya for Kaka! at Real Madrid. I believe in him like he believes in Jesus. Hala Madrid!

Champions League, woohoo
BARCA WON!
Now as a Madrid fan, I shouldn't be happy that they did, but I am. I don't think my happiness stems from them winning as much as it does from ManU being really outplayed, outdone, outclassed and defeated! Anyways, I'm glad an EPL team didn't win it again because that would have been horrible.
Also, this is muy importante because this means Bojan is now the youngest player to ever win Champions League. He can add that to his record of being the second youngest Champions League scorer as well. I need to marry him asap!
Yay Barca, they played well all season and they deserve their success...

Football icons
I found a site with a ton of caricatures of different footie players. There are so many good ones and I want to post them all, but that would take up some serious space so I'll just link you to the blog I found them on. I think there is someone here for everyones different tastes. There are more great ones too, they can be found here! I recommend taking some time and going through them!

A day in the life
- I woke up at about 8:00 am and played Fishdom for about 2 hours until I beat it.
- I then got online and ended up watching 11 footie games, either wholly or partially for about hours. I LOVE INTERNATIONALS so much and I couldn't resist watching as many as possible. I watched; Wales/Finland, Russia/Azerbaijan, Israel/Greece, England/Slovakia, Germany/Liechtenstein, Spain/Turkey, Italy/Montenegro, Netherlands/Scotland, Argentina/Venezuela, Mexico/Costa Rica and USA/El Salvador.
- Imbetween all of the games, I decided to drink about a pot of coffee and got a major major caffeine high and then came down and that was not fun at all.
- Then I watched Jazz take on Phoenix. This was one of the most bizzare/ridiculous/dumb/frusterating.... games in forever. The refs were so dumb. After the Jazz had won 103-99 they decided that they needed to add anther 0.3 of a second to the clock and make them play it which was pointless, but it let the Jazz actually end up winning 104-99 so meh. It's kind of sad though as it's pretty much assured the Suns won't be in the finals, but such is life. Jazz for the win.
- I then decided to organize my iTunes library which is still a bit jumbled.
- At about 11:00pm it was bed time for me. Overall a pretty productive day... Anyways- here are some things from the games I watched that I feel the need to point out-
~The Engerland National team kits are horrible. I know it's supposed to be like some throwback to 1966 or whatever, but it just seems they were lazy to me. Seriously, no thought went into this "design." It's like, hmm, well- I want to go home, let's just stitch a three lions logo onto this polo shirt and call it a day.
~The Russia kits, I don't even know what to say. I kind of like them, but the zipper collar is throwning me off.
~Papa Kun and bebe Aguero! I'm not one to swoon over babies, so I'm not going to. I just think this is a great pic.
Uefa and time zones decided to confuse me and sadly I missed pretty much all of the Italy game :( Two very strange things occured during this game though, that I feel is important to point out; 1) Canna got carded! I didn't see it and I dont' know what he did, but he got a card. To bad he couldn't flirt his way out of it, I love it when he does that. 2) At the end of the game, Canna did NOT remove his shirt. I was shocked. He always strips at like every possible opportunity. I didn't even know what to do- I felt kind of bad though because he left the pitch looking all disappointed, but I dont' know why since Italy won?
~I was streaming the Argentina/Venezuela game and this ad was above it the whole time and for like the first 20 minutes it was hilarious, but it kept moving and by the end it was really pissing me off!

Champiooons! Well, not really.... :(
On Tuesday Arsenal beat Roma 1-0 which was a good result especially that I am a born again Arsenal fan so yay. However, Inter couldn't manage to defeat Manchester United. Now don't get me wrong, I really dislike Inter, I might even go as far as to say I loathe them, but whenever anyone is up against ManU I have to cheer them on to success. The draw was a mediocre result at best but at least Grody SAF didn't manage to get that ever so precious away goal.
Wednesday was a complete fail! ESPN decided to broadcast the Chelsea/Juventus game and I managed to get a stream of the Real Madrid/Liverpool match. I witnessed both of my teams lose 1-0 and this was too much. I'll start with my thoughts on the Chelsea/Juventus game-
It could have been worse. The next leg is a home game for Juve so they have a strong chance to win at the San Siro. Also, Trezeguet is back and he managed to play for a few minutes and I expect him to be even better for the return leg. Despite this, it should have been better. Juventus didn't manage to get the away goal which could utimately decide this draw. On the positive, Buffon was once again wearing his plum purple ensamble- I love it!

I don't even know where to begin with the Real Madrid/Liverpool game except to say that this was a complete disaster on RM's part. Canna got carded for the first time in like forever. I wasn't really upset, but I was annoyed, but mostly in part to the fact that he didn't even try to flirt his way out of it. Also, really Canna, shirt pulling? You are above that. Raul played really well, but where was everyone else. Heinze was such a massive fail I can't even begin to describe the ways he messed up. Also, congrats to the scouse side. Pepe Reina played the game and in my opinion was clearly the man of the match, if not for him I think RM would have won. This is just so disheartening because RM had been on such a good winning streak and everything was in their favor. Also, on a more selfish side, this may possibly be Canna's last year and Real Madrid and I would just love for them to win the Champions League because it is his last feat to concur. He is truely a world class player and will go down as one of the greats and he really deserves it.
Anyways, in times of hardship, I try to match up songs with how I feel. The song for this post would be either The Beatles- "Let It Be", or "Yesterday". Take your pic.

An Arsenal post.... Finally!
I am going to actually try and become interested in the EPL and by that, I don't mean actually watching some EPL games. With all the Serie A action and La Liga games I try to take in each week, I simply wouldn't have the time. Thus, I decided I will at least try to catch the Arsenal games. Arsenal being the team I support (as much as one can support a team in a league they have little interest in) but I am going to change that starting now. Sarah and Chocolate Bear can hopefully keep me up to date and interested. Starting now, I am a full fledged Arsenal fan. I don't know if that is good or bad, but we shall see.
My first part in my plan of action is to make this my desktop wallpaper. I'll take it from there.

I just don't understand
Bojan as the type. I guess I was wrong :(

I'm just not coping at all.
Juve also drew to Sampdoria today 1-1 and basically have screwed themselves. If Inter win the Milan Darby, then they are 9 points behind them in second place. If AC Milan win, they are 1 point behind them and in third and if they draw, then they become tied for second with AC Milan and go 10 points behind Inter.
Just all around not good and I am being emo for the day.

David Beckham
*this is showing up weird on Internet Explorer, but if viewed in Firefox it's fine*
I always forget how much I hate David Beckham. I’m always aware of how much I dislike him, but I’m always caught off guard by the amount of hatred I have for the guy. I was trying to find out the starting lineup for AC Milan in today’s Milan/Roma game and all I came across was stories about how Becks is or isn’t starting. This made all of the hatred I had for him come flooding back. After the game as well, the only stories that were up were all about Beckham and it’s just too bad because there was much more to that game than just a debut by a “good looking” player past their prime.
I was thoroughly annoyed and Vanilla Bear and Chocolate Bear had inquired as to why I dislike him so much so I decided to officially make a list and explain my feelings.
1- He gets in the way of real news and important stuff.
David Beckham is in my way. When I google something that he has the tiniest thing to do with, all I hear about is him. This is sad because there are bigger more important things than him, but no one cares because he is there. He takes away credibility of good players and important stories with his mere presence. Becks goes to visit sick kids in a hospital and instead of them writing about the disease the children are suffering from and ways to help, everyone is just focusing on what he was wearing or some other form of Becks malarkey. He gets in the way of important stuff and it's not okay.
2- He did NOT bring football/soccer to America and he is a sellout.
Instead of trying to raise his quality of play as any player with dignity would, he took the easy way out and decided to remain just a slightly above mediocre player in the MLS. He claimed it was to bring exposure to the sport in America, but when you look at the potential earnings of $250 million we all know that is about as fake as cubic zirconium. He put money above the sport and that is just not the kind of message that somebody with his level of exposure should be sending to anyone. Then, to put that sweet cherry on top of the load of bull the whole situation was, he didn’t even play for the first few months because of a hamstring injury. If you are going to pay that much for a player, at least get someone of quality as well as someone who isn’t broken. Just pure ridiculousness. Then, when he finally did start playing, he couldn’t score a goal to save his life. The LA Galaxy couldn’t even finish at the top of their division. Then during the winter break of MLS during this season, he has sort of jumped ship and headed over AC Milan and has officially tainted the Serie A with his presence. I do have to say this though, I thoroughly enjoyed his time in the MLS because that meant as far as sports went, I didn’t have to see him ever. I mostly avoid celebrity blogs and therefore when I read sports sites, he was never in sight.
3- Perfectly sensible decisions get criticized when Becks is involved.
Fabio Capello got heavily criticized for his decision to not play Becks during Real Madrid’s 2006-2007 season. Why? Becks was not playing well. Becks was also at Real Madrid and with a roster full of superstars, it is natural and expected that he would have to compete for playing time and during that season, his level of play was not up to par as some of the other players. Also, in the middle of the season, he announced he would soon be leaving to head to the MLS, so why should a coach play a player who clearly no longer is committed to giving 100% to their team. His 4 years at Real Madrid are some of the worst in their history.
4- Everyone made a big deal about him going to Real Madrid and his time there.
He won the Supercopa, but Real Madrid had qualified from the season before he played there. Real Madrid won the La Liga once in his four years there (06-07), but that was the year that he barely played. Besides selling jersey’s what else did Becks do for Real Madrid. They are the most successful club in the world and he didn’t better them in any way. If anything, he just brought negative media attention to the club. I know a lot of Madridistas thank him for his time there and for them, I ask; Why?
5- He’s stupid.
Some people have argued that it’s okay that Becks is stupid because he’s aware of it, but to this I disagree. If Becks is stupid and he knows it, why isn’t he doing something about it. Why isn’t he picking up a book and trying to brighten himself up? This is the man that little kids look up to and people say it is okay for him to be stupid because he’s him, but it’s not at all. Role models should be more than just 2 dimensional. I think that being smart is something that should be held in high regard. It seems that being an intelligent person is something that is looked down on in society and I think that like Paris Hilton, Becks is partially to blame for this. Since when did being self aware make up for the fact that you are an idiot?
6- He takes away from the talent of other players.
If you ask most American’s who the greatest soccer player in the world right now is, most will answer David Beckham. This is because most American’s don’t know any better. Also, whenever you read a match report of a game that Becks played in, you will find a lot of it revolves around him and not the other players that possess far greater talent.
7- His Wikipedia page.
It’s just far too long.
8- He causes hypocrisy amongst fans and is not special.
The best way to explain this is to use an example. I am going to call out Vanilla Bear on this because she is really the only big Beckham fan that I know , but this sort of hypocrisy applies to most Becks fans (don’t feel so singled out). VB really loves Becks and will preach his greatness, despite him playing for Manchester United. Now this might not seem so hypocritical at first, but VB has told me that a lot of the reason she dislikes Ruud Van Nistelrooy and other players is because they have played for ManU. Why is Beckham so special that people can overlook things about him, that they can’t about other players?
9- He is not as good looking as you think.
I think a lot of the reason people thing David Beckham is good looking is because we’re told he’s good looking. He is known for being good looking, but when you get down to the matter, he’s no more good looking than many other Hollywood celebrities. In fact, he’s not even the hottest athlete out there, let alone the hottest football/soccer player. I think a lot of what people think is attractive about him also comes along with the notoriety of his fame. I’m sure that if everyone knew of every hot baller out there, Becks would definitely not be the hottest, but because most people don’t know who Iker Casillas, Fabio Cannavaro, Thierry Henry, Adrian Mutu, Raul Gonzalez,… are, they consider him the best looking.
I guess I could have just saved over 1,200 words by posting the below quote as a lot of the reason I dislike David Beckham, but I don’t think that would do it justice.
“You're more than welcome to shake your fist at the sky and curse David Beckham with me any day. Whether your reasons have to do with Beckham being the source of 12 years of sporting agony or his inability to get a sport going in your country because his legs keep encountering unfortunate accidents due to his passionate attempts to run more in the last month than he has in 10 years, it matters not. We are officially comrades in eye-rolling agony... unless, of course, you're still holding out hope for your Chosen One. If that's the case, you may as well throw yourself off a bridge because you clearly haven't a lick of sense.”
